Apgar hatched March 5, 2023, and was born in human care to be an educator. While Apgar is cosmetically perfect, being born into human care has resulted in him imprinting on humans. Being a human imprint means he identifies more with humans than he does with others of his species. Being imprinted on and comfortable around humans makes him the most ideal candidate for an educator. Apgar joined our team in April, at only 7 weeks of age! We look forward to watching him grow as a bird and an educator! He will work alongside our staff as an Education Ambassador to inform the Northwest Arkansas community on the special qualities of Barn Owls and their importance on our environment.

Apgar is very curious about his new surroundings and his trainer. We are in the beginning stages of training and he is learning everyday, just like our trainers and his “brother,” Kaibab! Apgar is named after Apgar Mountain in Glacier National Park, a mountain Dr. Warman and Madison Kennedy were able to see as they road through Glacier National Park on horseback. We are so excited to see Apgar grow and work for our community!
